In modern living we have electricity, TV and other magic stuff that makes our lives comfortable. During a 24 hour soul research at Aryel C Walett (www.aryel.se) in south Sweden I had the opportunity to live as an old farm worker in a nearby bed & breakfast.
It is amazing how we take modern comfort for granted. Living in an old stable with only a barn door between the warm candle-lighted room and the dark night outside was an amazing experience.
When looking a bit closer to the surroundings where ever we go, we can find pieces from the past. Is it just old junk or is it carrying a story from the past how we survived?
This oil pressure gauge is mounted on an old harvesting machine in south Sweden. Imagine the work this old machine has done to harvest the wheat for our morning bread.
I found this old tractor in the backyard of a small bed and breakfast in south Sweden. It is still working and the harvesting tool is mounted on the back of the machine.

A silent journey by canoe in the swedish lakes around Bengtsfors in Dalsland can offer many photo opportunties.
Imagine sitting in a canoe early in the evening. Silently you glide over the calm lake where you can see your own reflection in the water. The only sound you here is the dripping from your paddle and maybe a bird far away.
Back in 2009 I was canoeing just in this lake and it was a fantastic experience with good friends to share it with.
If you visit sweden it´s well worth a travel to Bengtsfors for some canoing.
This photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P2 compact camera, which is a regular consumer camera so there is no need for a really expensive camera to take photos, Even a iPhone with an external zoom or macro lense gives great result.
Today a lot of things are done in plastic or metal in high-speed production lines. This barrel reminds me of the great craftsmanship needed to just build one of these. Even if this barrel on wheels is abandoned in the woods it probably last longer than many things we produce today.
Canoeing on a silent lake in Dalsland (Sweden) offers many beautiful moments. This photo was taken back in 2009 during a fantastic paddling tour where the water dripping of the paddles was the only sound.
Dalsland is famous for it´s fantastic nature and lakes where you can rent canoes and travel from lake to lake and sleep in wooden shelters looking out over the lake and cook your meals over open fire.
Last year I was walking along the coast line of Blekinge, Sweden. This specific place reveals many pieces of history from the past. A time when this was the base and probably also the home of fishermen.
Blekinge offers a beautiful landscape both on dry land and out in the water. A sunny day you can see the chrystal blue water meeting the green landscape on land.
I found this pillar of really old wood standing in the high grass surrounded by a rusty chain hanging over it.
